MAHLE Behr Industry is one of the world's leading original equipment manufacturers today, developing cooling and air conditioning systems that are used in a wide range of vehicles, engines, and transmissions. The product range also includes wheel sets and trim parts for motorcyles.
MAHLE Behr Industry, with its headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, is operated since July 2010 with MAHLE Industry GmbH holding 60 percent of the shares and Behr GmbH & Co. KG 40 percent of the shares in the company. Its predecessor was founded in 1990 as an independent company to serve the engine cooling and vehicle air conditioning market outside of the passenger car and commercial vehicle sector. The company has locations in Mylau, Reichenbach, and Freiberg in Germany; in Grand Rapids, MI, in the United States; and, since 2010, in Tianjin, China.
With the acquisition of the majority share by MAHLE GmbH, the company now operates under the name MAHLE Behr Industry.
From railway vehicles to motorcycles
MAHLE Behr Industry provides complex cooling and air conditioning systems for railway and special vehicles, ships, buses, construction and agricultural machinery, as well as for large engines, generators, gensets, wind and solar energy systems, high-performance electronics, and the aviation industry. At its Mylau location, the company additionally develops and manufactures rims and wheels for the motorcycle industry.
The number one in Europe
For years, MAHLE Behr Industry has been the number one in Europe with a market share of over 70 percent in cooling systems for railway vehicles, and is the European market leader for cooling systems in special vehicles. In 2010, the company generated worldwide sales of across EUR 180 million with around 950 employees.
