MAHLE Behr Industry manufactures components for cooling and air conditioning systems for off-highway applications as well as for motorcycles at six locations around the world. To provide customers with both high quality and an optimal price-performance ratio, worldwide production at MAHLE Behr Industry is based on mandatory standards.

MAHLE Behr Industry relies on its own internal production system, which serves to identify, standardize, and introduce our methods on the basis of best practice. Findings are stored in the database, which contains uniform and binding applications of clearly defined standards and methods that are valid for all production facilities and product lines.

Systematic production
Our production system provides a platform on which to share knowledge and experiences, helping us to implement cost-saving improvements as quickly as possible. It is closely interlinked with the development system, which is used in development and research. Binding standards and methods are documented in our management system. Wherever in the world MAHLE Behr Industry sets up a new location, employees can access all the relevant standards via the management system.

Keeping track of best practice methods
With the introduction of our production system, MAHLE Behr Industry has defined seven so-called wastage categories: overproduction, holding inventories, waiting times, rejects, movement, transport, and processing. Best practices means that new solutions must have a significant positive influence on one or more of these wastage categories. We attach great importance to finding these solutions in the context of day-to-day work, which is why all employees play a part in the production system and contribute their ideas via their system coordinator. An important factor in production is logistics, which practically has an effect on all wastage categories.

MTM for an optimal work environment
At MAHLE Behr Industry, MTM stands for Methods Time Measurement and is an approach designed to make workplaces ergonomic and economical. The aim of MTM is to improve production and organize production processes efficiently. To do so, we look into recurring basic movements in manual activities in order to identify and avoid superfluous body movements. Reaching movements can be optimized, for example, or work steps on an assembly line can be distributed evenly among employees.

Aluminum and stainless steel prevail in production
We take care to ensure that our components, modules, and systems are made of the highest-quality materials and are optimally processed. Aluminum is our main material, not only for air conditioning and cooling system components, but also for motorcycle rims and wheel sets. Nonferrous metals and stainless steels are also used.
