MAHLE Behr Industry is a systems development partner for the cooling of generators, transmissions, and frequency converters. Our cooling systems and components are used in on- and offshore wind and solar energy systems, mobile and stationary gensets, and industrial plants.

Generators generate electricity from kinetic energy and are designed for different applications. MAHLE Behr Industry develops high-quality cooling systems and components to dissipate the accumulated heat in the generators' drive units (piston engines, turbines, or wind turbines).

In developing our systems, we concentrate on cooling charge air, coolant, fuel, and oil.

Air cooling
Modern drive units are increasingly turbo-charged to boost their efficiency. Compression makes the temperature of the charge air increase sharply. The charge air cooler lowers this temperature to ensure optimal efficiency of the unit.

Coolant cooling
Genset power units are frequently coolant-cooled to prevent overheating. Coolant coolers are used to maintain the maximum permissible coolant temperatures.

Oil cooling
In addition to coolant cooling, modern power units are also oil-cooled, with oil coolers interposed to ensure that maximum permissible oil temperatures are not exceeded.
